To get to these ruins you need to go to Monutainair NM. We stayed In Belen and drove over to the National Monument it about 35 mile to the the first one Abo. Monutainair is about 10 more miles. Quarai is about 10 miles to the north from Monutainair and Gran Quivira is about 26 miles to the south from Monutainair.
They are all different in design, construction, and material used. These ruins were occupied back about 7,000 years ago and the nomadic indians may have gotten there 20,000 years ago.
The interesting part is that the women did all the building. My question is how did the keep the lines straight and the corners square.
The Spanish arrived in 1540 , Coronado's expedition. The christianizing for the indians began.
I will start with ABO and then do separate post for the other two sites.
Abo was was a community that was busy when the spanish arrived in 1581 and the franciscans began converting the indians.
This is the first of three sets of pictures, the others follow this set. Abo is first, Quarai is second and Gran Quivira is third.
This one should have been first and I don't know how to rearrange them sorry about that.

| Fred Sisneros's grave, he was born on this land. When the site was made a National Monument he was appointed a Park Ranger. His only request, that he be buried on the land where he was born. |
