Jaroso Fire

Well winter is over and there are fires, flooding, tornados,  and hurricanes. Colorado is now on fire. New Mexico is on fire. California is now on fire. Hopefully what ever is needed to help people in all the affected areas is happening and that there is enough man power to tackle everything.

So both fires around us that were within 30 miles or so of Los Alamos are now over 50% contained.

The new fire, the Jaroso, within 30 miles of Los Alamos started the day before yesterday from a lighting strike in the Sangre De Cristo mountains to the east of us. It is east of Espanola and about 10 miles south of Truchas. It is burning in rugged terrain and is being fought from the air. This could be a bad one for those people across the valley from Los Alamos.

These pictures were taken from Los Alamos. Sorry that the photos are not clear but when your surrounded by smoke thats how they come out.

Thompson Ridge Fire

On Monday June 10, went over to check it out. They had closed the road from Los Alamos to La Cueva over night and I just wanted to see it for myself. The fire had jumped over a containment line and they cut a fire break right along the edge of the road in some places. As of now the fire is over 50% contained.
